What makes the perfect veggie burger?

For those of you in the U.S. the Fourth of July is just around the corner! Now for many Americans that means cook outs and fireworks, red, white, and maybe some blue in there too. I’m far from patriotic, but I’ve always loved lighting a good sparkler and having some good eats in the heat of summer. For Maddie and me it’s our first Fourth as a couple and we’re headed to visit with her folks for the holiday. That means lots of fun poolside and hopefully a cookout with delicious food.

We certainly had our warm up round with a good batch of veggie burgers last week:

I don’t know about you but when it comes to a burger, I like to keep it classic. A good dose of ketchup and mustard, a slice of tomato and a leaf or two of lettuce. For these delicious burgers, we used Amy’s Veggie Burgers which have long been my favorites. They’re all organic, vegan, and you can pronounce every single ingredient. What’s not to love?

We got some organic ketchup, whole wheat buns, and some stone ground mustard at the co-op along with a couple of locally grown green house tomatoes and a head of lettuce. As we’re currently grill-less, Maddie cooked ‘em up stove top in a pan with just a drizzle of oil to keep them from sticking. The perfect warm up to a summer of delicious meals, not to mention the cook out we’ll be having later on this week…

What’s your favorite summery meal?

Bisous!

  1. Yummm. I picked up a box of the Amy’s Texas burgers today and we nommed those for dinner. I’ll always think that vegan veggie burgers have a little bit of a weird taste as compared to their vegetarian cousins (I used to truly love the Grillers Prime burgers by Morning Star) but when in doubt, we can always turn to our kitchens and create our own from scratch. Have a great Fourth!

  2. I have been using the grill every chance I get! Grilling mushrooms, peppers, onions along with potatoes some kind. I haven’t tried a store bought veggie burger but I’m glad to have a recommendation! Thanks!

  3. Mmm….I’ve never tried Amy’s burgers because they run almost 6 dollars a box here. But on you review, I will have to try them. Amy makes the best vegan margherita pizza too! THE. BEST.
