Just cool it, OK?
It’s been just about as hot as it can get these past few days in Carrboro! At upwards of 100 degrees, I’ve been going in and out of air conditioned spaces, a sensation I don’t necessarily enjoy, in an attempt to stay at a healthy body temperature. I’ve also been downing just about every iced beverage imaginable all in the name of keeping my cool.
I’ve been drinking more than my fair share of iced coffee both at home and away. I’ve been making huge pots of coffee that I’ll allow to cool, then I’ll combine with ice and a little nut milk to make a creamy and delicious beverage that keeps me from sweating bullets in the heat of the day.
Through the Looking Glass Iced coffee
1 cup coffee at room temperature or chilled (be sure to use fair trade and shade grown!)
1/4 cup nut milk (soy, almond, hemp, etc.)
a few drops of vanilla and or almond extract(s)
The extracts give the coffee a delicious coffee house taste that really makes you feel sophisticated even though you’re preparing the drinking right in your own home. You can add agave or your sweetner of choice to sweeten things up a bit.
What’s your favorite way to stay cool when a heat wave hits?
Bisous!
Rachel

I’ve been making extra coffee but I never get around to making iced coffee. This looks tasty!
