Inspiration Station

There are so many lovely, wonderful blog awards floating around in the blogosphere that bloggers and readers are able to give one another. These always bring a smile to my face and warmth to my heart. What a fantastic way to share blogs that you love with others through the gift of an award?

Recently my friend Mel over at Toxic Vegan re-gifted an award that I gave her back to me.  What a wonderful, happy feeling it was to receive the award again from another blogger who I admire and love to follow! Part of that award is to list 15 other blogs that you feel are also deserving of the “One Lovely Blog Award”. I always have a hard time coming up with that juicy round number as the blogs I regularly read number far fewer. (There are just too many blogs and too little time!)

But afte Mel re-gifted that award to me, I decided that it would be lovely if I could share a few of the things I love to look at with all of you in the hopes that you might also find some of the inspiration that I do in them. I’ve found that as an artist and art historian, I am such a visual person that imagery is really what inspires me the most. So folks, here are just a few of the fantastic things that I love to look at on the regular and that bring me inspiration and joy.

Emily Winfield Martin, “Banjo Recital”, Click the image for the link to her Etsy site!

The art of Emily Winfield Martin ~ I love her work and her beautiful blog! Her paintings make me smile so deep inside and I own several of her adorable little pins that adorn my various bags.

Pinterest~ I can’t say enough how much I adore Pinterest. It’s such a positive creative space where complete strangers can share ideas, thoughts, and creativity. It’s chock full of beautiful, dreamlike photos which I just adore plus links to the sites the images are from. If you haven’t been on Pinterest yet, hop on over and give it a look!

Art Nouveau~ Lately I’ve also been looking at a great deal of Art Nouveau. It’s a delicate aesthetic that I think is just grand, and it’s been informing my art and giving me all sorts of inspiration, not to mention flooding my carefully curated Pinterest boards…

Film~ I just adore films of all types and aesthetics. Maddie recently surprised me with a TV and Blu-Ray player– two things I thought I’d never own! I’ve been catching up on some movies lately, crochet hook and vegan yarn in hand the whole time!

A photo of some lovely lichens I took while playing a game of frisbee golf with Maddie last week!

The world around me~ Nature is always one of my biggest motivators to make and create art and the other things that tickle my twisted fancy. I can feel the seasons beginning to change as the days gradually become shorter and the air has been cool here for the past several days. The rains have brought an abundance of beautiful little mushrooms that have sprung up over night. Their colors are just amazing, and I love seeing them peeking their sweet little faces out behind all of the nooks and crannies I see on my daily runs through the neighborhood.

What are you looking at in your world these days that hits your inspiration button?

Bisous!

Rachel
