When the Rain Comes, Sit tight.
Oh how I wish I didn’t have meetings and class to attend today! It’s another beautifully rainy day in Carrboro and I love enjoying it—from the inside out.
There’s nothing that I love more than the sound of gentle rain… I like to keep windows and the screen door open to hear the beautiful noise.
Days like these are the perfect ones to curl up with a book, a film, or a few blogs to read. Recommendations? Here ya go…
Book: Haruki Murakami’s The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle is beautiful and surreal, the perfect book to get lost in. Still not tantalized? Check out this New York Times book review.
Film: The 1999 version of Alice in Wonderland. (Guess what folks? It’s on Netflix!) Whoopi Goldberg is the Cheshire cat, Martin Short is the Mad Hatter, and Gene Wilder is the Mock Turtle. Can it get any better than that?
Blogs: Sociological Images—one of Maddie’s favorite blogs—looks at images in our culture

I just had to post this little sweetie! How cute is that?! If anyone tells you they’re for animal testing, please show them this photo… click for the link to an NPR article on the Lesula Monkey!
and the issues surrounding them. Great for visual people like me who think that pictures say at least 1,000 words and an in depth perspective of them? Why that’s even better. I recommend this post on the recent “discovery” of the Lesula monkey, aka the cutest thing since Beans. This post from Choosing Raw looks at the “Why Raw?” question. It’s a great, thought provoking read, so get to it!
Another thing that makes a rainy day swell?
Freshly baked whole wheat biscuits topped with my favorite: strawberry jam and surrounded by my roses.
What makes your rainy days beautiful and bright?
Bisous!
Rachel
