Homemade Peanut Butter!
Yesterday was October 1st– the first day of Vegan MOFO! To celebrate, I made myself a little treat…
Fresh, homemade peanut butter!
After dinner, I still felt a little hungry and that jar of peanuts was just staring me down. So I went for one of my favorite childhood snacks:
A delicious, local apple, with my homemade nut butter!
I’ve shared my almond butter recipe on the blog before, and I love to make all sorts of funky nut butters with all sorts of delicious combinations, but this was my first stab at peanut butter! The recipe is simple (only three ingredients!) and is the tastiest peanut butter I’ve ever had!
2 cups roasted, unsalted peanuts (if you can get your paws on raw, even better!)
1 Tablespoon raw agave
1/2 teaspoon salt
In your food processor, pulse to break down the peanuts into smaller pieces. Process on high until the peanuts form a crumbly, corn-meal like consistency. Add in the agave and salt, and continue to process until the peanuts relax and form peanut butter! Scoop into a jar, and refrigerate until used, which won’t be long because it’s the most delicious peanut butter I’ve ever eaten!
Bisous! (And happy peanut buttering!)
Rachel

I used to make my own PB all the time but haven’t recently — you’ve inspired me to get back to making my own nut butters, so thank you!
Thank you for the wonderful comment! You are so sweet!
Perfect timing with the salmonella outbreak happening right now w/ nut butters! Yum, Rachael! Guess we were both thinking peanuts. I posted about peanut milk on my blog today
!
Thanks Rachel! I’ve made cashew butter but never peanut butter. I bet my 3 year old would love “helping” with this one.
I love peanut butter, on toast, on fruit, and even better on toast with fruit!
Now to get my paws on some raw peanuts… why are they so elusive!?!
I rarely make my own nut butters, and that’s a real shame because they’re always so much better tasting than anything you can buy. Such a short and sweet recipe is a very convincing reminder!
Thank you so much for your comment, by the way. I sometimes get discouraged by the demands of the blog, but getting such encouraging feedback is enough of a reward to keep me going.
Thanks for your comment, too Hannah! I completely understand your feelings. It’s super easy to get beat down but rest assured your blog is lovely!
