On Blogging
As you might have noticed, Veganland has a new look! Together Maddie and I have revamped the dear old blog to give it a new edge for 2013. You also might notice that suddenly Veganland has gotten very photograph-heavy. This is due to my beautiful new landscape, the changes our lives have recently taken with the move, and my new form of employment as a studio assistant. I find that I have far more time, energy, and desire to capture the beauty around me, not to mention there is certainly a surplus of it in these mountains!
With all this in mind and on screen, I’ve been spending a great deal of time researching new blogs and figuring out just what it is about the blogosphere that so captivates me. I’ve boiled it down to this list, the features that inspire me along with an example of a blog that exhibits said feature.
~ photography. I’m an art historian, this means I tend to think in and relate well to images. I love blogs that juxtapose text with beautiful images.
~ variety. I love blogs that have a central focus but that divert from it at will and with ease.
~ fashion. I love clothes, and seeing others’ personal tastes, styles, and the way they pull the two together.
~ indulgent voyeurism. To me, reading someone’s blog is like reading a novel–it’s a view into someone else’s world. I love this about blogs and I love to watch different stories unfold over time.
~ visual impact. Various modes and form of visual stimulation working simultaneously to captivate and inspire.
So why do I blog? Well, friends, for the reasons listed and also to fulfill the creative urges that are constantly snapping at my heels. I love to write. I love photographs. I love taking an idea, (like the one I had for this post.) grabbing my computer and running with it. I love seeing where my mind takes me. I love trying out different styles and forms of this creative process.
I just love to blog.

Couldn’t have said it better myself!
