I finally got around to photographing the sweetest of our strays, Pericles. Only a history-obsessed geek with a soft spot for the history of Ancient Greece like me would name their cat after an Athenian statesman from the Golden Age, but such is life.
While the untrained eye might mistake him for Olive, he’s about twice her size and trimmed in white, just like my Leonor Fini. He’s quite the visual combination of our two babies, despite is large size and teddy bear face.
His massive and somewhat intimidating stature is in no way indicative of this cat’s sweet nature. He loves pets, the sound of Carly Simon, and snoozing on the blanket that our neighbor gave to him the moment she met him because she was so taken by his sweet spirit.
Though he’s the largest cat around, he’s the largest pansy, always bossed around and beaten up by the half his size Stumpy Skellington and whoever else comes around.
I’m thinking of starting a weekly or at least fairly regular cat post. I clearly adore photographing my cats and I’m trying to think of some creative ways to integrate more photos of things I love into my regular blog posts. Thoughts? Comments? Ideas?
