Our last snow brought us some of the most incredible ice formations I’ve ever seen. One of the most abstract is just outside our window.

With the slow thawing of the land, the ice looked different each day, much to our interest and delight.

The drips and drops were so lovely to look at.

The icicles framed our entire school house and our foot prints/tire tracks from the day before yielded ice crystals that formed overnight.

Drips became abstract visions of clear frozen joy, and puddles solid pools of glimmering coldness. The snow had a tremendous crunch to the top of it as we made our way on a brisk walk. The sounds of thawing were all around, yet did not distract from the wonders of the ice.
