In the comments section, a reader recently said it looks as if I’m in contemplation mode. How true. These past weeks have been such a whirlwind, it’s nice to finally feel like Dorothy entering Oz, dazzled and dazed but intrigued at the same time.
Lately, I’ve discovered boxes of books, new beers, and am basking in the light of late summer. Where I am there are beautiful trees around me, and the way they play with the light is nothing short of remarkable. I met a beautiful deer the other day, and I was able to gaze at her as she walked across the small dirt road where I’d just pulled in.
I’ve also met and befriended the most incredible spider, who I only see at night, and have been unable to photograph yet. Her body is the size of a shelled walnut, a rich reddish brick brown color, and each one of her legs is striped. She’s incredible and I speak to her each time we meet at the gate. There’s no way of knowing where she lives during the day, or how she manages to crawl out of that home to her perfect web each evening. I’m not about to search for her and find out.
