About Rachel
Howdy! My name is Rachel Fesperman and I am a feminist artist, art historian, writer, blogger, and crafter living and loving life in beautiful Durham, NC. I have always loved animals, and this love has ultimated manifested itself in my veganism. I view veganism through a philosophical and ethical perspective with a strong emphasis and basis in animal rights and activism, but not without an interest in the environmental, human health, and wellness aspects veganism offers.
I began my quest to veganism at age 13 after seeing an enormous pig stuck in a way too small cage that people could pay to view. Suckered in, I bought a ticket and my heart sank as I stared at that beautiful, overly fattened animal who was helpless and being exploited for humans to gawk at. Shortly after, I transitioned to vegetarianism and when I got to college, to veganism. It’s been the best life choice I’ve made so far, and I continue to love life and its beauty through a vegan lens everyday.
I am happiest when I’m busily creating-whether it is my latest art, gardening, craft project, or tonight’s dinner. I live with my beautiful partner, Madelyn, a fluffy angora rabbit named Beans (The Wonder Rabbit), and 3 crazy cats: Olive, Fini, (shown with me above) and Stumpy Skellington.

Omg. What happened to the pig? You saved it, right? (I was hoping that would be how it ended.) :’(
unfortunately I have no idea! But I’ve never forgotten her!
Isn’t it sad we have no heart when it comes to living beings…All living beings? I agree with you and love that Carroll quote and Fini’s art.
Rachel, is any of your art online? I’d love to see it… I can imagine that your beautiful creativity would translate wonderfully onto canvas (or paper or concrete, for that matter!)
Thanks so much for your sweet comment! Unfortunately, there’s nothing up right now except for a few crocheted items I’ve posted about from time to time. I’m still in the process of getting my studio together and will hopefully do an art post soon!
